Mental Health and Wellbeing In COVID-19 Times

We Can Get Through This. A podcast by Tan Y Maen.

We have recently been working with Tan Y Maen creating artwork for their amazing new podcast all about Mental Health and Wellbeing in COVID 19 times. The project resulted in two separate pieces of design work. One piece for the podcast cover and another to promote other Tan Y Maen activities.

Who Are Tan Y Maen?

Tan Y Maen is a wonderful wellbeing centre located in the heart of Gwynedd, Wales. They provide information, advice and support to individuals and organisations on any aspect of wellbeing and mental health. This involves providing therapeutic activities through Art, Pottery and a Community Garden as well as operating Community Wellbeing Projects.

What did Ümlaut do for Tan Y Maen?

Tan Y Maen are in the process of launching a new Podcast service. The podcast will be accessed by clients across North Wales. They approached Ümlaut Media to collaborate and create some eye catching artwork for them. The podcast will be a post COVID19 support and information podcast and will include articles, interviews with local support groups, features on support services and Mindfulness and Wellbeing related content. The aim is to help people who have suffered a loss, either by bereavement, job, home, income, emotional loss etc due to Covid19.

The design we created uses the outer shape of a brain to house the title. This is representative of mental health during lock-down and having to contain a lot more within your own mind with less ability to share. The brain stem has been replaced with two bubble icons so that it forms a speech bubble representing talking, sharing and podcasts. Below is the main podcast cover design we created.

Other artwork we designed

As well as the podcast cover art we worked on some other pieces of design work. The aim was to visually capture people during COVID 19 times. The below design will be used on other Tan Y Maen materials and is a visual representation of people during COVID 19 times. The individual windows show different people using their time during isolation. From an outsiders perspective the design shows how we were all in it together despite feeling alone.

What did Tan Y Maen think?

“Fantastic service from Zoë who is an extremely talented graphic designer. She really made our vision come alive and fulfilled all of our hopes and expectations. I would highly recommend her services.”
